The World Series is down to one possible remaining question: whether Milwaukee can close it out Tuesday night. The Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 in Game 3 on Monday, Oct. 26, taking a 3-0 series lead and putting the first title in franchise history one win away.
Robert Gasser started for Milwaukee and held Tampa Bay to one run. The Brewers' lineup scored 10 runs in the game, their largest output of the series after winning Game 1 by a 3-2 count on Oct. 23 and Game 2 by 5-4 on Oct. 24.
Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. Eastern in Tampa Bay, airing on Fox, Fox Deportes and fubo. If the Rays win, Game 5 follows Wednesday at the same time. Games 6 and 7, if needed, shift to Milwaukee on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31, both at 8 p.m. Eastern.
Neither club has ever won a championship. The Brewers reached the World Series by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS, winning four straight after taking Game 1 by 2-1, Game 2 by 7-4, Game 3 by 6-2 and Game 4 by 6-4 on Oct. 15. Milwaukee's previous World Series appearance came in 1982.
Tampa Bay clinched the American League pennant by beating Cleveland 7-3 in ALCS Game 6 on Oct. 19, winning the series 4-2. The Rays' path included a 3-0 ALDS sweep of the Yankees, closed out Oct. 7 with a 4-3 win. Their earlier World Series trips came in 2020 and 2008, when they lost to Philadelphia.
Tampa Bay advanced out of the wild card round by sweeping Houston, winning 6-3 and 7-3 on Sept. 29 and 30. Milwaukee, meanwhile, beat San Diego in the NLDS, taking the series 2-1 after a 3-1 win in Game 4 on Oct. 7.
Cleveland reached the ALCS by rallying past the Chicago White Sox in five games, winning Game 5 2-0 on Oct. 10 after dropping the first two. The Guardians had beaten Chicago 3-0 and 4-3 before Chicago took Games 3 and 4.
The bracket also produced wild card sweeps by the Yankees over Boston, 9-0 and 9-2, and by San Diego over the Cubs, 8-0 and 4-1. Atlanta and Philadelphia split their first two games before the Braves won Game 3 6-2 on Oct. 1.
Milwaukee can wrap up the series Tuesday night in St. Petersburg. A Rays win pushes the series to Wednesday, with Games 6 and 7 held in Milwaukee only if Tampa Bay extends the matchup.
